“Service Tip Regarding Needle Insertion and Top Threading”
We get machines in for service with the complaint that it breaks the top thread or gets locked up after the first stitch. If this happens, check these two things before bringing the machine in:
1. Check that the needle is not in backwards. The flat of the shank faces the rear in most cases. If the needle is in backwards, the machine will not sew.
2. Check that when threading the top thread, it is in the take up lever—if it is not, the machine will lock up right away.
2. Check that when threading the top thread, it is in the take up lever—if it is not, the machine will lock up right away.
By checking these things, you may save yourself a trip to the shop with the machine.
