Thank you to everyone who came in on December 9th to help make Hats and Mittens for the "Holiday on Hastings Way" drive to help area families who are in need this season. We made a big pile of hats and mittens! Several people expressed that they would be willing to come back in January to make more hats and mittens. We will meet on Friday, January 9, from 11-3 p.m. Anyone who wants to help out is invited to join us. Feel free to come when you can, and leave when you need to.
More Toiletry Bags for Bolton House!
On February 12 from 1:30-4 p.m., we will have a workshop to make toiletry bags for the Bolton Refuge House. Many of you have participated in this before and know how easy it is to quickly make these colorful bags that we fill with small size soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and any other useful toiletry samples that have been donated. Anyone who wishes to participate is invited to join us. No prior sewing experience is necessary. We will have the machines set up and the materials ready to go! We will accept donations of sample size toiletries for the bags. These bags will be donated to the Bolton Refuge House clients.
Save the Date for the Annual Spring Tea
Our annual spring tea will be held Saturday, March 28, from 1-3 p.m. We will serve tea and tasty treats, and will have a fun project available for everyone to stitch up! "Dress for tea" or come as you are.
Izzy's Anniversary/Creative Sew Day
"Creative Sew" day Celebration
To celebrate Izzy's 1st anniversary with us (her 11th birthday), Sew Complete hosted a "Creative Sew" day on Saturday, June 14, 2014. We designed "Isabelle's Project Bag". Participants used different machines to complete their bag. Each bag has a large embroidered pocket on the outside, is fully lined and has 3 inside pockets, 2 of which are zippered.

Back to School Notebook Cover
A "Sew Creative" afternoon was held on Tuesday, August 19. Participants made a back to school (fall-themed) notebook cover. It featured a tiny embroidery design, a zippered pocket in the flap for "small stuff", tabs to hold a pen while keeping the book closed and decoratively serged edges. Everyone was invited to try out these techniques on different machines.
Izzy joined our family in June 2013, and our staff at Sew Complete. Her official title at the shop is "hostess". Now that she is feeling familiar with her surroundings, she has also taken on responsibilities as greeter.
